Technically, many codes can be disabled; however, we don’t disable codes that indicate a real fault and affect the engine or driving safety. We find the cause first and, if a repair is needed, we tell you.

Clearing the fault memory is temporary; if the problem persists, the code soon comes back. Disabling a code is permanent, because it switches off the relevant monitoring in the software.

No. Switching the system off doesn’t put any extra load on the battery or charging system; in fact, the number of starts goes down. The battery management system keeps working normally.

In stop-and-go traffic, consumption may rise slightly as the savings the system provides are lost. On long journeys and in free-flowing traffic, there’s no noticeable difference.

No. If the problem is caused by a mechanical issue such as a leaking injector, fuel pump, sensor or starter motor, it needs repairing first. Software is a permanent fix for calibration-related problems; we find out which it is through diagnostics.

If possible, yes; arriving with the engine at operating temperature speeds up diagnosis. We also warm the car up at the workshop and observe the problem with live data.

Usually not. With an intake kit designed for the specific vehicle, the air flow meter stays in the right position and at the right diameter, so measurement remains accurate. Where the diameter changes, the software can be rescaled instead of deleting the sensor.

It’s possible on some petrol cars, but not every ECU is suited to it. We assess suitability based on the engine and ECU type; on most petrol cars, running with a healthy air flow meter gives a better result.
