NOx Sensor Delete

Software for the warning light, power restriction and AdBlue warnings caused by faulty NOx sensors.

  • Diesel
  • ~1–2 hours
  • Track / Motorsport

About the service

What is it and how does it work?

NOx sensors measure the amount of nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas to check whether the SCR (AdBlue) system is working properly. Operating at high temperatures, these sensors can fail over time; when they do, the warning light comes on, an AdBlue/emissions warning appears, and on some vehicles a power restriction or no-start countdown begins.

NOx sensor delete software disables the sensors’ monitoring functions and related fault codes in the ECU. On most vehicles the NOx sensors work as an integral part of the SCR system, so this work is usually considered together with an AdBlue/SCR delete. It is mainly done on diesel vehicles.

A NOx sensor delete is an intervention in the emission control system and is only for track / motorsport and closed-course use. For road-going cars, we recommend replacing the faulty sensor. The original software is kept and can be restored on request.

Benefits

What do you gain?

  • Eliminates NOx-sensor-related fault codes and warnings
  • Removes power restrictions caused by a sensor fault
  • A complete solution compatible with AdBlue/SCR delete
  • Original software is kept

Process

How is it done?

  1. 01

    Step 01

Fault memory is read; the faulty NOx sensor is identified.

  2. 02

    Step 02

The original software is backed up.

  3. 03

    Step 03

NOx monitoring functions and related fault codes are disabled in the software.

  4. 04

    Step 04

A road test confirms that the warnings have been cleared.

FAQ

NOx Sensor Delete — FAQ

The most frequently asked questions about this service, with short answers.

Have another question?Message us with your car’s make, model and engine.

Can a NOx sensor delete be done on its own?

On some vehicles, yes; however, on most vehicles the SCR system cannot dose correctly without NOx sensor data, so the job is planned together with an AdBlue/SCR delete. After diagnostics, we’ll tell you the best approach.

How can I tell if a NOx sensor has failed?

The most common signs are the warning light, an AdBlue/emissions warning and NOx sensor codes in the fault memory. We confirm it by reading the sensor’s live data with a diagnostic tool.

Software for emission systems is intended solely for track / motorsport and closed-course use; driving such vehicles on public roads and presenting them for TÜVTÜRK inspection may be against regulations. On request, the original software can be restored.
